The Study Abroad Story-

It all started in 1946, through the Fulbright program. 1945 J. William Fulbright proposed a bill to us the proceeds selling surplus U.S Governments war property to fund international exchange between the U.S and other countries.

The Fulbright Program's mission is to bring a little more knowledge, a little more reason, and a little more compassion into world affairs and thereby increase the chance that nations will learn at last to live in peace and friendship.’

Fulbright Student Program offers fellowships to universities likes- Harvard, Yale, the University of California, Colombia, and more prestigious universities.

In 1951, the Colombo plan was also established to encourage the movement of studies between the countries. Furthermore, The Colombo plan is also responsible for funding over 40,000 Asian Students.  The funding was provided by 26 commonwealth and non-Commonwealth countries.

A 2006 survey, by Monash University Australia showed 75% of students are from India, who competed for university education in Australia applied for and granted residency.

Between 1963 to 2006 the number of students studying abroad has increased 9 times. In 2006 there were 2.7 Million Students were studying abroad and the demand for cross-border education will increase to 7.2 Million by 2025.  

Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Countries has received approximately 85% of the world’s population. Below is the list of the majority of countries that are concentrated –

USA 21.4%

UK 12.6%

France 8.8%

Australia 7.6%

Germany 7.6%

Japan 4.6 %

Apart from these countries Canada, New Zealand also ranked side by side in terms of Student Immigration.
